Michael Bombka, LMHC is a licensed Mental Health Counselor with over fifteen years experience specializing in working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Michael's relaxed, calm, easy-going approach helps children, teenagers, and adults easily feel relaxed, at ease, and accepted. 

Michael has advanced training and experience treating a vast array of child and adult issues including anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, impulse control, anger issues, panic attacks, behavior struggles, work issues, school issues, parenting issues, marriage issues, divorce issues, grief issues, separation issues, addiction issues, Trauma issues, abuse issues, intimacy issues, life transitions, as well as most other childhood and adult mental health and relational struggles. 

As an athlete Michael often assists other athletes with sports performance and motivation issues. Michael can also serve as a life coach for many important life issues and transitions that children, teenagers, college students, adults, parents, and families frequently go through. 

Michael has advanced training in treating children or adolescents who act out towards others (verbally, physically, sexually) or towards themselves (self-destructive, self-injurious behavior) as well as victims of trauma, abuse, or neglect. Michael also treats children, teenagers, and adults who are having life transition issues, school problems, work related challenges. Michael can also help prevent issues from developing and frequently works with children, teenagers and adults who are at risk or having difficulties with alcohol or drug abuse issues.

Michael also has advanced training and extensive experience in working with families and couples with a wide array of relationship and interpersonal challenges.

In addition, Michael specializes in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) adding to his expertise in treating trauma. Michael has extensive expertise in treating PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). He is also certified in Hypnotherapy allowing him to assist with a variety of issues including anxiety, phobias, stress, as well as other related issues. As a musician Michael can incorporate creativity into sessions when needed. 

After receiving his graduate degree from the University of Central Florida, Michael completed his post-graduate training and acquired extensive work experience while working for Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Women.  He has served as child therapist, adolescent therapist, and adult therapist and as a supervisor while at Arnold Palmer Hospital.  

Michael has also worked for the Healing Tree/Sexual Trauma Recovery Center, The HUG Me Program/Pediatric HIV Program, The Center for Counseling and Consulting, Kid's House of Seminole, Inc. and has served as a director helping to run federal and state grant funded programs. Michael is on most insurance panels and is available for daytime, evening, and weekend appointments

Child Play Therapy

“Play therapy is to children what talk therapy is to adults. Play is a child"s language. Adolescents and adults use languages like English, Spanish, French to express themselves. However, no matter what verbal language children speak, children express themselves best through their natural language -- the language of play.
